Starting to wonder if some women in tech who feel like their authority is being questioned just because they are women aren't reading too much into someone criticizing their content. A lot of time I see comments coming from a place of ignorance, confusion, inexperience, & haste.

Such comments are very likely to come from newer developers, who are learning by themselves from various sources, many of which are old & outdated. But because they were written by leaders in the community, such articles are perceived to be set in stone.

When you read a newer article, written by some other tech leader, and the information presented *seems* to go against what you've learned so far, you make comparisons. When such comparisons happen between two authors, one man, one woman, why must we automatically assume sexism?

Because it's easier to blame someone else for your failings than to accept the criticism and learn from it. We are probably all guilty of it. I'm terrified of criticism. I know myself what my failings are but I don't want others to tell me.

But many times the criticism is not valid. In most cases, the person making the comment did not understand the technical issue in the first place, and makes a stupid remark that totally misses the point. But some women automatically assume the comment happened coz of sexism.

Easier to make an accusation than to refute their criticism.

The thing is they refute the accusation quite well AND make assumptions ab the reason behind the comment at the same time. They see sexism instead of plain old ignorance.

I wish more tech leaders who are women were more like @HPluckrose. If only we could convince her to go into tech, everything would be awesome. *le sigh*

Tbh, I think it's fun to do a tiny bit of Lotaking in real life. Only a tiny bit. Every now and then. 😁😊 Never killed anyone. #guiltyOfLotaking
