I agree! The free speech warriors only defend those they agree with, those they perceive as on their side. They are silent on some of the most important free speech issues of the day. That's hypocrisy.
-
OK, you are defining 'free speech warriors' as those who only defend those they agree with. We can all oppose them.
-
That's who the article is about. Bari Weiss, Dave Rubin, Ben Shapiro, Jordan Peterson, Bill Maher. They're all hypocrites and hucksters.
-
It's probably fairly pointless to argue about whether they secretly agree with everyone whose freedom of speech they have defended. You can be charitable or uncharitable when you mindread.
-
I can't help but notice they're all a particular 'centrist' group tho. Presumably you include far-lefties who support freedom of speech for people who share their views but are fine with others being shut down in your 'free speech warriors' definition?
-
Unfortunately I'm not aware of too many lefties who take a strong free speech stance. The ones I am aware of- Adam Proctor from Dead Pundits Society or Noam Chompsky all seem pretty good on it.
