This is some pretty puerile trash from the @nybooks. You can disagree with Peterson's substance & style without comparing him to the Nazis http://www.nybooks.com/daily/2018/03/19/jordan-peterson-and-fascist-mysticism/ …

Hi. Quick question since I’ve see a lot of misunderstanding about this. What do you think is Jordan Peterson’s intention? What is he trying to do from your perspective?

He might be trying to replace postmodernism (good idea) with semi religious obscurantism (bad idea) and focuses on personal responsibility (good idea), and perhaps restyling premodern gender roles (bad idea) :)

Yep. That’s basically it. Well phrased. I’d go even further to say that he’s not only trying to replace postmodernism... he’s trying to build a new type of modernism from the ground up. He’s trying to influence western culture & change the course it’s taking.

And yes I agree the semi religious obscurantism is terrible. But I’m very very interested to see how this plays out & what he is able to achieve. I wonder if he’ll manage to change the discourse & make some of his ideas more mainstream?

That's what I'm afraid of. People aren't actually archetypes, narratives aren't actually truth. Objective truth matters. Clarity matters. Individuality matters. The sexes are heavily overlapping populations. His popularity makes it difficult to tackle postmodernism as it really is

I think that it’s going to take me a few years to get rid of the “brainwashing” from uni cos I disagree atm. Narratives are truth. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’ll have to read what you’ve said on this topic. Also, listen to Peterson. Maybe I’ll understand what’s wrong with this type of thinking.

😉 I’ll probably end up agreeing with you after I’ve looked at more perspectives than what I was taught. That’s what usually happens...🙃
