OK, diet update. On the keto diet for 18 days. My headaches much reduced, no double vision, walk much less jolty, balance better but no weight loss. On low calorie diet for last 5. Losing half a lb a day but all those symptoms are back.

I was thinking I'd do low calorie diet for few months to lose enough weight to be out of the danger zone and then try keto again to alleviate neuro symptoms but I'd actually like them alleviated now. It was really nice to be able to do stairs normally which I haven't for years.

Normally I get dizzy on stairs coz my right eye doesn't quite keep up with the left & this causes depth perception problems when I'm in motion so I have to take one step at a time. But last week I was doing stairs like I used to before nerve damage. Like ppl usually do.

I am, yes. I want to lose 3lbs a week. It is quite urgent.

No. You lose a lb for every 3500 calorie deficit. I am in 1500-2000 a day. Last time this happened I lost 3-4lbs a week for a year until all the weight was gone.

If I fast for a week, I lose about 14;bs and about 6 of them come back when I reintroduce food because it was water.

That's fine. My waist and bum are still smaller and it's still easier to move around and it doesn't come back.

What's your calorie deficit? If you're *actually* losing 0.5lbs per day (not just water weight), you're probably on a huge deficit. That rate of loss is v ambitious, and slowing it down might help.

        About 1500-2000 calories a day.

Wow, if that's your deficit and not your intake, IMO that'd be the first explanation for any bad side effects. Obviously all up to you, but I think most sources recommend trying to lose no more than 2lbs/week.

There's no bad side effects. I'm losing weight. It just doesn't counteract the effects of my neurological condition like the keto diet did.

I guess I'm saying: * If keto helps your neuro conditions, * And the main change is you're now keto with very few calories, * And suddenly it's not helping your neuro conditions... Then the large calorie deficit is the first thing to look at.

No, I went off the keto diet onto a low calorie one

Oh! Sorry, misunderstood that completely. Why not eat keto but with fewer calories, out of interest?

Hunger, mostly. Keto is high fat so high calorie. You could eat very little on a keto diet if you were also keeping to 1,200 calories. Two small meals a day.

holy smokes! So there's a carb thing setting you off? I get double vision (like cars coming at me look like they have two sets of headlights) that is better with fewer carbs. But the neurologic stuff sounds scary. ☹️
