See, this is why I don't go to bed early. Coz I don't want to be up at 2.30 in the sodding morning. This sleep problem is shit. The only way I can sleep for 6 hours in a row is not to try until can't keep my eyes open. But that doesn't happen until about 20 hours after I wake up

But I suppose I shouldn't complain. Being a writer/researcher/editor from home does mean that having a completely ridiculous (lack of) sleep pattern isn't the end of the world.

So you normally wake up after about 4 or 5 hours, and can’t get back to sleep? I have had the same exact problem off and on for years. Meditation has now been extremely helpful.

I’ve come to believe it’s the result of an overactive mind. When you wake up in the night, focus all of your attention on your breath. As soon as you notice you’re thinking about something else, return your attention to your breath.

It will be hard, and your mind won’t want to do it. But if you stick with it long enough, you will fall back asleep. At least if you’re anything like me.

Keep in mind, the keto diet is particularly hard on sleep. Bright side being, you should be able to function well on less sleep.

Why try to sleep? What's wrong with just falling asleep when you can no longer stay awake?

Maybe you're on the wrong planet. Sometimes I think a 30 hour day would be ideal.

This was recommended by Matt Might on one of his blog posts, or on Quora, who's blog I would also recommend. The screen dimmer/blue light remover is great for when one needs to spend their late nights looking at a screen, which isn't great for sleepy eyes.

Have you tried psychedelics? Your collective unconscious may be reaching out in a foreign language. Psychiatry kept me from a similar discovery for eight years. Legit trying to help, b/c I know the toll insomnia can take. You’re on to something and good drugs are meant to help.
