OK, I have an app now to properly measure carbs and sticks to test I am hitting ketosis. I am committed.

Just spent 30 minutes logging breakfast. Problem is all the apps seem to be American and it seems we have very different words for foods. So I have to keep looking that up and then I have to convert grams to ounces. And then I find I have already had too much protein for the day.

I am finding it extremely difficult to eat enough fat without eating too much protein. Perhaps this is why I am not seeing weight loss. If I have bacon, eggs & avocado for breakfast, I cannot eat any more protein at all for the rest of the day.

Another calculator tells me this is 75% fat (which is what I want), 23% protein (3% too high) and 2% carbs (3% too low except there is no such thing as too low) Hmm. I really don't have this much time to spend thinking about food. I have work to do.

what are your carbs at? < 30g?
-
Quite a lot under.
-
that's severe indeed. Less than 30 should turn the sticks pink. If quite a lot is ~ 10 are you getting some greens at least? :)
-
Avocados are green! Also got broccoli and asparagus.
-
very nice. The later also fiber. If I may, what are you total kcals at?
-
I don't know.
-
I see. It's just CHO you are keeping track of then?
-
I don't know that means either, I'm afraid. Just following a diet plan.

Dieting via ketosis is a craptastic hype and should only performed under supervision of a physician (especially when obese/diabetic). It's red alert mode of your body where it turns itself into toxines. Feeling shitty is your body telling you “GET PROPER FOOD, GODDAMMIT!“
-
But I feel so much better!
-
People feel better with a lot of diet forms that are basically withering away your body because they rationalize the warning signs as some kind of “detoxing“. You can do ketogenic diet and might profit from it. Just do it with professional help.

I agree with your approach of figuring out what works for you and your body. There are many variables and not everyone responds the same even when following the same dietary advice.
-
I will however, tell you what works for me. I only count carbs and keep them under 20g. I am diabetic, and I monitor my glucose. I use a Keto mojo meter to test blood ketones as pee strips were not accurate for me.
