James, this is really just hand waving away the problems that you don’t know how to answer. It’s not just sloppy, but it’s dishonest. That about which one cannot speak, one must pass over in silence.
No, it;s not. It;s perfectly honest to say that you just don't think a subject is worth spending your limited time on. We all do this for most things.

I respectfully disagree. I don’t mean he is lying, rather that when one is not familiar enough with a subject to make informed judgements about it, dismissing that subject’s relevance out of hand is actually just a statement about their (lack) of knowledge.

It is fine not to think theology, metaphysics, astrology, postmodernism worth spending time on & yes, this will result in a lack of knowledge. You remain free to think the knowledge is worth having but it's not lazy if you study other things or dishonest if you're open about it

That is true, but that is not what is happening here. He is actually arguing ethics and meta ethics while simultaneously dismissing ethics when the going gets tough for his case.
