I don’t even know where to begin arguing with someone who doesn’t recognize those messages were hysterically overboard. It seems like insanity.

Well this is a bit embarrassing. My claim has been, like the gender studies profs at PSU, too few social justice advocates are willing to defend their side, electing to shame and boycott their critics. Is there a particular reason you won’t argue with ETV, or just busy?
-
We have tried before with frustrating results. I can only talk to people if they address what I am actually saying. Disagreement is fine. Persistent (deliberate?) misunderstanding and point-missing just make it a waste of time. It's OK. There are other people to talk to.

We disagreed over terminology that I thought was very relevant to her point. I’m glad that she at least agrees with me about the actual threat vs the perceived one by fearmongers, but it seems like my form of Socratic dialogue is not her cup of tea. So it goes.

That's right, yes. We were unable to discuss the substance of the issue I was raising about the problem of having different ethical expectations of different cultures because of your insistence on focusing instead on whether cultural relativism was the right term for the problem.
-
I remove myself from such conversations if a person keeps focusing on semantics after a maximum of three attempts of clarifying my meaning & asking that person to instead address what I mean rather than what they think I should call what I mean.
-
I did this after getting bogged down in what is the correct definition of 'atheist' and 'feminist' so many times and never getting to actually discuss arguments against the existence of God or how to go about achieving gender equality.
-
Cool. My goal is never to bog down, only to get clear on shared terminology before moving forward. Otherwise you just have to start over halfway through.
-
This is the problem tho. People never agree to share terminology. They just argue forever about whether an atheist is someone who lacks belief in God or holds a belief that God does not exist. Very very tedious. Much better to establish what they mean by a word & get to substance

Hi Ms. Pluckrose, I am going to read the article you posted a little while ago in the discussion between a few people re. SJWs, tech, etc. Would you like to speak on my "podcast" at some point soon about these issues?
-
Hi! Thank you for asking. I seem to be doing several podcasts soon about this topic and I'm afraid people will get sick of me! Could we perhaps talk about it in a few weeks?
-
Sure, no worries. I will try you again in a few weeks--thanks.

Lol. Not sure what you’re assuming about me but so it goes. I’m not going anywhere if you want to try and see how it goes.
