So, it's a problem when he releases information without consent about other people (when he sees it to be relevant), but it's not a problem when you release information about his mental illness without his consent? What's the relevant disanalogy here?

Huh? I don't have any information about his mental illness. I don't know if he's even been diagnosed with one. If he isn't concerned about his own behaviour, he won't have sought help for it. I want him to do that. It's more charitable than assuming malice.

It could be charitable. But yet again, claiming individuals are mentally ill is a time-tested rhetorical device to inoculate people from considering whether there are merits to a person's ideas. It can be, in cases, ad hominem. C.f., the NRA and the Parkland shooting.

Of course. But if you think there is merit to this behaviour when it's not caused by mental illness, I don't know what to tell you. To me, it's clear it's wrong and the two explanations are deliberate malice or mental illness.

I think it’s possible he really hasn’t had time to examine his actions objectively. Maybe I’m being either too naive or too charitable.

I think it’s far too easy for good people to behave badly for what they think are good reasons. I tend to lean that way as an explanation for as long as I can.

1/2 I agree with this, and I don't know PT personally, I've only interacted with him on Twitter. I also believe that when one feels passionately about something, this influence their behavior/cause them to act problematically. In my experience, part of being a member of a moral

2/2 community requires identifying when, and in what ways your beliefs might lead you to act poorly/immorally etc. Again, personally I'd really like to hear what he has to say.

I agree with that. People get bound up in a cause. But there are limits. This is neverending and includes, well we've been here. I think it crosses too many lines to be simple over-zealousness.

2/3 I certainly think that, given that the 411 here had to do with children it's pretty bad. But in my mind there are certain empirical questions that I'm curious to see answered that seem important. For example, to what degree does the impersonal nature of, say, Twitter lead one

I'm going to leave it here because I'm sick of the subject. I've been discussing it for days and I have work to do.
