I'm sad because people are arseholes. We are allegedly a species defined by our reason, empathy & communication skills. Let's try to act like it.

I don't need an answer, but I will ask: You spend a lot of time staring at PoMo, gender politics & many areas where people are looking to have and/or label problems. How often do you make time to focus on things that just make you happy, share a few laughs and some friendship?

Ha. I see friends 2-3 times a week but I don't have any who are interested in the same things as me and I get bored fast. Sometimes I get drunk and watch police dramas!

Ha! Well, I'd be willing to argue that we have these extra skills, yet we are often not so good at using these reasoning/communication skills at all.

People are animals with more skills. Yet at our core we are still just that. We have these skills to overcome our nature. But! It's not our default. It takes work. And even then...sometimes we fail. And our psychology makes us think we didn't.

The struggle to uphold reason is hard. You’re trying to have conversations with people who don’t listen. Don’t hear. It’s taken months to sway my wife away from identity politics and you helped! You are a contribution. You are heard.

Sorry for the shit you've gone thru. I try to console self with fact that humanity is more or less even distributed thru excellent brilliance and sucky awfulness, and it's merely our systems that select which parts we see that are broken. And that hopefully we can improve them x

Always remember Twitter isn't representative of the human race! It's only about 2-3 % of the population of any given countries pop and it's self-selective for arseholeness!

Is that what defines us? I thought it was our over-sized, pattern-recognising, problem-solving brains. Brains can do good things and bad things. Big brains can do bigger good things and bad things. Many big brains can do many and bigger good things and bad things. And now: 2018..

We’re a species *distinct* from others by our complex communication & our potential for reason, but we’re best defined as arseholes.
