I am still very new to public speaking. Over that week, I did five different speaking things. This was the first. I was still rather stuttery but better than I sounded in my own head. By the end of the week, I was much more confident. Getting there. I much prefer writing.

Even on Twitter, I get a few seconds to select precisely the right words which get the meaning and tone I want and this makes a lot of difference to my clarity, I think.

No, I'm not. XD It varies hugely & naturally depending on where I am! My friends and father all have Essex/London accents and when relaxed & chatting, I find I have one. My academic colleagues & mother all have BBC accents & when speaking formally, I find this one emerges.

The Americans already think we all speak like Judi Dench. Hopefully, they got to hear the real thing during casual chats with you. Your hint of Essex is so very endearing
