When these people feel triggered or "afraid," blocking, censoring, banning, muting, etc. is just fine. When it's a feminist responding to Milo giving a talk, they have a moral panic attack and rave about the collapse of Western civilization. Just, stunning. https://twitter.com/YondaBarry/status/970090888570417152 …

There is a distinction between censoring voices that reach YOU, & wanting to moderate who else gets to hear something… But, what fascinates me is how hysterically these ppl seem wrapped up in their own overblown "harassment" claims, while claiming feminists are overreacting…

I explicitly asked him for evidence that you were harassing him, a few months ago. None was forthcoming. I don't doubt he's stressed & frazzled, & you're MORE than unwelcome to him, but "obsessing", "writing hit pieces" & even reckless defamation is not threatening behaviour.

That said, you'd be best to stay away from him. It could prejudice & taint further legal proceedings. Your "olive branch" in circumstances was provocative (especially 1st row request), & he's let you know how he wants no contact. You have no real need to go near him. Best not to.

Twitter isn't a good place for a detailed response; suffice it to say that I have no plans to actually go near him. The email happened because of a specific event and, frankly, I would welcome further discussion with anyone about what's really going on here.

Do you mean this? If you promise me sincerely that you have no plans to go into Peter's classroom or wait for him in the hallway or otherwise intimidate him, I will commit to having further discussion if you still want to?

Helen, I can confirm that promise, and will explain more if we have a civil discussion off Twitter (which, put crudely, sucks). Given the mudslinging today ("stalker," "obsessed," "mentally ill"), I'm increasingly unsure this could work, but I'm wiling to give it a try.

OK, but this isn't mudslinging. I don't want people to jump on you for this because I think you probably think you're doing the right thing & are probably not dangerous or not intentionally. I know you don't see what you're doing in this way. I will try to talk to you abt it tho

Well, we can chat about whether those false claims constitute mudslinging. Send me an email tomorrow (or whatever)? Otherwise, Twitter has (again) proven to be a sh*tshow: an ideal platform for unproductive chatter. :-/

I think Helen wins twitter today. 99% of people would be in "troll-mode" right now, but even after a testy exchange with someone who seems to me like he's revealed himself to be something of a stalker, she's able to be magnanimous. Truly incredible.
