By Day Four of Keto diet, I've lost a lot of water. This can be a problem for many people but I have the opposite problem due to a kidney abnormality so am appreciating the loss of puffiness in my ankles, fingers & face. My knees like the lbs that have gone even if just water too

It is key to only make changes that are sustainable. If cutting something out, be prepared to cut it out forever. If reducing something, be prepared to reduce it forever. If exercising daily, be prepared to exercise daily forever. Temporary binge diets can exacerbate the problem

Honestly, I do understand dieting. Three months for this one, then review.

May I ask, what is a keto diet?

It's a bit complicated so probably easier to look it up.

Thanks for updates on Keto, I'm curious if it works. What kind of foods can you eat with Keto?

It doesn’t suit everyone, but it does work. In simple terms, it’s a very low carbohydrate diet, with moderate levels of protein and high levels of fat. Think eggs and bacon for breakfast, chicken and avocado salad with an olive oil dressing for lunch 1/2

And salmon (or steak) with green leafy vegetable for dinner. Small bowl of berries to follow. (Pricey menu, I realise, but you get the idea. Cheaper options available.) Avoid starchy vegetables, grains, sweeter fruits and sugar. 2/2

One thing I just remembered from the first weeks: don't know if you have them in the UK, but those little cubes that you dissolve in hot water to make broth. One cube in 500 ml, and drink that. Always made me feel better.

Make sure to get enough potassium and magnesium, muscle cramps mean they've gotten too low. On keto they deplete much more quickly for some reason.

It helps to stop thinking of it as a diet and start thinking of it as just how you eat now. Make it a habit rather than a project.

You've probably heard this already but just in case you decide to supplement diet with exercise.....lifting weights is WAY more efficient than endless cardio. And it's funner.
