Well, quite. Knowing I'm in greater danger of cancer because I am obese does make me feel bad, actually, but I do think getting rid of the fat is a better solution than getting rid of the information. What with cancer being real and impervious to cultural conditioning and all.https://twitter.com/CR_UK/status/968888635545309184 …

(1/2) Hi Sofie, our campaign isn’t meant to make anyone feel bad about their weight or make anyone think negatively about people who are overweight or obese. Our aim is to raise awareness of the link between cancer and obesity…

Me, on this: https://conatusnews.com/dangerous-problem-fatshaming-fatphobia/ … But this is another example of where we only listen to the members of a group if they're saying what we want them to.

Has anyone *tried* shaming the cancer away? It might work! Just tell it to stop being fatphobic. 😉

A good trick is too focus on how much better you'll feel. Remove all temptation and plan ahead. Low carb/high fat diets work really well for some, like paleo or keto, and you can eat as much as you want in the beginning and still lose weight.

This worked for me last year. I had hypertension and was having bad metabolic problems. Lost 30lbs in four months from eating only fatty meat/seafood, fresh leafy greens, and almonds/pumpkin seeds - no carbs - no processed food. Energy & mood improved. No more joint/head pains.

It's similar to smoking, the warnings probably do make people feel bad, but it's necessary. Similarly when I see stuff about bacon et Al being cariogenic it makes me feel bad for eating it, but it probably should do.

Exactly. As former obese I find incredible that people wants to blame science for their own problems.

I'm certified salad deficient, which is harmful to my health. Sugar coating that fact is pointless as it'll only make me want to eat it.

The information, IMO, simply gives one something else to take into consideration before making an informed choice (and, in some cases, it is a choice). It's not bad knowing what your options are. Many people still choose to smoke, despite similar campaigns.

It's interesting that people appear to be more impervious to being told their health is threatened than that a certain attitude means that they're "a hater".
