My mother embarrassed her bosses when she posted memos pressuring the bank to open accountancy qualifications to women. I strongly doubt many of the people saying 'Damore deserved to get fired for going against the culture of his workplace' would say this about her.

Some would, of course, but this will be the small minority who prioritise the rights and freedoms of powerful corporations above those of individuals and minority groups and views. This doesn't tie in with the backlash against Damore which is overwhelmingly abt gender wrongthink.
