My stomach hurts. I feel vaguely sick. I have a headache and a craving for sugar. I am reassured that this gets better after a couple of weeks at the most? #keto

I just went through the same thing, I found that magnesium vitamins and sodium help A LOT. Bone broth in a soup or even just by itself also helps as it is high in all the electrolytes that mitigate "keto flu". Stick with it! It's worth it when you get to the other side!

A piece of advice, go to Aldi they sell packs of Moser Roth Chocolate, they have five small bars in them, get the 70% dark chocolate and have one bar after dinner, it helped me no end.

Eat a lot! I found keeping Lindt 100% dark chocolate at my desk at work helped.

If u ease into it, it is easier. Lower carbs over weeks not a day or two until u get to your carb # (50-100 depending on activity level) for keto worked for me. Good luck 🍀

The headaches are due to electrolyte imbalances. It’s an excuse to up your sodium. Pork rinds/scratchings are your friend in the transitional period.

It takes a while for your metabolism to adapt. Try increasing your salt intake if you’re feeling “off”- via seasoning, bouillon or bone broth. This will counteract the body’s tendency to dump sodium in the early stages (natriuresis)... 1/2

Salt seems to ward off Atkins’ Flu. Then perhaps two or three weeks to adapt. (Full adaptation, for endurance athletes at least, takes rather longer.)... 2/2

P.S. Would recommend including plenty of green leafy vegetables, esp. brassicas, in diet. And, for weight loss, adding some intermittent fasting once you’re properly underway. Ketogenic diet and 16:8 worked very well for me.

Remember to drink a lot. You won't retain fluids as well when you drop the carbs.
