I don't think it's a majority position that closeness and connection requires sex/romantic love. Again you move away from the original context (where there is sexual potential) and again, you make the fallacious assumption that higher standards = missing out. A marriage can and does stale, and sex is often a culprit. And a deep marriage is unlikely to become one w/o the sex

That's not moving away from the context. There is always sexual potential but in most cases no attraction.
