I am Generation X. We still had the sex, drugs and rock & roll but we got all cynical and postmodern. I'm sorry. (Millennials are worse tho.)https://twitter.com/CHSommers/status/963975848540954625 …

Dear kids: I’m a Baby Boomer. We are getting old. But at least we had sex, drugs and rock & roll. Seems like millennials have moral panics, workshops, and grievance circles. Time to rebel! xxMom

I am Generation Y. We had AIDS, punk was dead and drugs were shit. Almost nobody can buy a house and brunches are boring us to death. At least we have cool video games, a never ending angst and the internet to compain about it.

You mean like how Millennials love calling people out as hipsters?

Yeah, it is similar. Hipster seems to come with more of a personality type. Also comes with a specific look. Poser was more abstract and focused on a lack of depth and actual commitment to whatever it was applied to.

I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Boomers trash college campuses, invent postmodernism, complain about pronouns, change "history" to "herstory" and "women" to "womyn", create ethnic studies and gender studies, and turn Alinsky-style protesting into a subculture? https://twitter.com/CHSommers/status/963975848540954625 …

We had less sex but better drugs. Sure we had sex, but we were terrified of HIV and that put a limit on the philandering.

Yeah but we only got cynical because the Boomers, realising they hadn't climbed high enough, built ladders out of our living bodies.

Ya, "we" did didn't we. It seems amongst my peers it was one or the other though, cynicism or postmodernism. Luckily I feel no real connection to that "we" beyond birth date.
