Right! I leave for Portland in 12 hours. Those hours will obviously be most productively spent by rushing about checking things, unpacking, repacking, imagining & trying to prepare for highly unlikely worst case scenarios up to & including plane crashes, yelling at husbands & dogs

I largely beat OCD 15 years ago but this doesn't mean I don't need to check that my passport hasn't vanished from my bag every ten minutes. It could happen!

I had no clue you’ve dealt with OCD! Glad to hear you recovered :) I know it’s not easy. I am doing so much better these days.

Since I was a kid, for me almost all “pure o” and really hard to pin down

Me too. Scrupulosity & then harm intrusive thoughts.

It was a very confusing and awful thing to live through as a 10-11 year old, that’s for sure

Yes, fortunately when my daughter said 'I have to put all my teddies in the right order or someone could die but it takes so long' when she was 7, I knew what was happening. She's dealing with it well now. More evidence that it is hereditary coz she's never seen me suffer.

That’s crazy. I firmly think OCD does have a major hereditary component. I will be keeping an eye on m little boy

Yes. You won't say 'Don't be so silly' and dismiss it. You'll know how to help him. But hopefully he will be free of it.

My mother was so scared they’d “put me on drugs” that she ignored it. It was awful and caused us a lot of issues
