One of the reasons I don't buy into 'cultural conditioning' very much is all the evidence of how hard it is to make people think they want to do things they don't want to do. You can make them feel like they should but I have much more confidence in ppl knowing their own minds.

On the flip side people are pretty malleable if you know how to manipulate them. Leadership relies on that malliability to achieve their goals. It can be used for both good and evil purposes.
