What's wrong with waiting until your kids are older to satisfy your intellectual needs? Oh that's right - kids are boring

There's no need to. They benefit from a bit of variety in company too. They also find adult company boring if they have to put up with it all the time.

Did you seriously want to spend all your time with your mum when you were a kid?

Hmmm. I'm not sure that's terribly healthy. Fortunately, apart from some separation anxiety for a few months when she was two, my daughter always loved to go to grandparents, aunts, friends and nursery. She's in France right now at 13 with no anxiety at all.

Mine also stayed with grandparents when young, are all at different unis and have worked abroad for the summer, and have vast social circles.

But you always wanted to be with your mum? And never got bored? Didn't want to go to nursery and play with kids your own age?

Who said I didn't play with kids my own age. Living in Cornwall, we were always at the beach. My idea of heaven then, and now

I already said I stayed with grandparents. I had freedom but I always knew my mother was around for me

Ah, well that's different. My daughter always knew I was around and would come if she needed me too.

Well my 5 year old gets bored of me and my cuddles and asks for play dates with friends her age on the weekends. I work full time and my kids go to the day care.

They are well balanced, smart, independent, happy kids. My fulltime work has no negative impact on their well-being. So I can vouch that this choice is not bad at all.
