Sorry, and noted. I think I've met so much suspiciousness and assumption of bad intent, that I often feel I have to clearly signal my intentions.

Sorry for subtweeting you but I keep meaning to say this and forgetting. I suspected this was the motivation buy It provokes a strong defensive reaction in me and I wondered if I was alone in that.

No worries. A little funny that the very act of signalling good intentions creates a suspicion of the opposite. But I do understand. Guess that's how messy social media is, with its total lack of audiovisual cues.

Hmm,I am aware that many assume dis-ingenuousness because of all the bad-faith interactions they've had, or think they've had. I'm guilty of the same and often check in with something like "are you genuinely curious about my thoughts or just trying to find out which side I'm on?"
