I see your point. I personally believe this issue wouldn't be an inflammatory if our language lacked gendered pronouns. That being said, a person has a right to claim the gender that is culturally opposed to their sex, and request others respect this, though not force them to?

Surely, even in recognising biological sex, the issue of gender, and whether this should (?) align with sex in a traditional (male=man, female=woman) way or not, remains?

It's all in the mapping and judgement. All based on culturally enforced stereotypes. Bringing the law into that is stupid as blasphemy laws.

Gender is in the eye if the beholder, not an intrinsic attribute of people. You do not have to agree with me about how i describe myself.

Agreed, though I would say it's in the eye of the beholder and the beheld,. but surely even here it's a matter of basic respect to allow someone their identity, if it's doing no harm?

That a matter of etiquette and should not be enforced, by law on women in sport, prisons, politics, dv shelters or choice of sexual partners

Again though, how do we enforce that, because trans women are not going to be happy with a legal system that calls them men, and men only. Which is a proposition to create a double layer ID card, with "sex", and "gender" categories split.

That's for them to sort out, without beating up women, or using kids as (v profitable) human shields. Society needs to accept them as men.

Does society need to accept that people don't own other people's perceptions & that they can can use what pronouns they like or does it need to agree with you & say trans women are men?

The user of pronouns is the speaker, not the person referenced.

You can't coherently say that other people don't own your perceptions and cannot dictate what pronouns you use & then complain if people saw your daughter as a man & addressed her accordingly.
