I see your point. I personally believe this issue wouldn't be an inflammatory if our language lacked gendered pronouns. That being said, a person has a right to claim the gender that is culturally opposed to their sex, and request others respect this, though not force them to?

In a group scenario, as you've highlighted with your daughter, this can go terribly wrong if there's no kindness or respect.

It's less about "lies". If you tell a group, "I'm a man", the group should be kind and respect that, and say, "OK", not go on a mission to convince you otherwise. And that should be whether you are cis or trans.

And for clarity, I'd be all for challenging that group to respect the individuals request to be seen as this or that identity, so, yeah, we agree there.
