This doesn't matter too much because her grades show this but it's potentially worse for her friend in the year below. They've decided pathways along grades and the top 25% in science have to do triple science. She is in the top 10% coz brainy & conscientious. Also hates science.

Now her mother is going to have to ask the school whether it will accept this & not put her in the science pathway so she can still do her best for the next year or if she has to deliberately get stuff wrong so she can take the GCSEs which will be useful for her actual life goals

Don't worry, this will likely continue all through schooling, especially when it comes to guidance counselors helper her choose career options and higher education.

Should you not do something you're good at though atleast when it comes to your career.. chasing something you think you're interested in but completely suck at doesn't stand to benefit anyone i think.
