Talking about things people do to attract mates. Obviously everyone wants to have a nice lifestyle and look healthy/attractive.

Yeah, and obtaining wealth and status doesnt fall into that category as simply as wearing nice clothes, doing your hair or wearing make up does.

Well, I can't be bothered to argue about it. David Buss is good on differences in drives to obtain & display resources & drives to present youth & beauty in terms of intrasexual competition. They're underlying drivers which don't tell us much abt the individual's motivation.
