Let's be clear abt this. When did I receive the most unwanted sexual attention from men? In the last 10 years, when I started wearing make up regularly? No. Between the ages of 13 and around 18. I wore demure knee length skirts and was often in school uniform.

I'm arguing against JP saying that when women put on lipstick they are signalling their sexual availability (he went so far as to say actual sexual arousal) to men & therefore women who wear lipstick in the workplace AND expect to be free from sexual harassment are hypocrites.

Yes, this is a different thing entirely.

Her reply to me was accusing me of accepting women being groped? My only argument is that, she is mixing up normative statements and empirical ones, which isnt actually helping solve anything
-
But why reply to someone saying that sexual harassment happens by insisting that sexual harassment happens? And why respond to someone saying sexual harassment of school children in their uniforms happens by saying this will happen if women dress attractively?
-
I only responded to her first statement i didnt read the rest of her thread. She is against JP cause she is misconatruing JPs arguments and claiming he is victim blaming, when all he is doing is giving Evo answers for why women behave the way they do

No, evolutionary drivers for behaviours are different to individual organisms conscious intentions.https://twitter.com/hpluckrose/status/961781177484005376 …

When did i deny that? He gave the ultimate reasons and she is confusing proximate vs ultimate reasons
-
See what he says at the end.
-
He probably misspoke at the end, but what he says brings up a point, men overestimate womens interest in them, so an attractive women wearing scantily clad clothes/makeup and talking to some men will cause some misunderstanding which could lead to harrassement

What next? 'If you have an expensive car, someone might try to steal it because cars can be sold for money and money can be exchanged for goods and services which people want.'
