Have we just abandoned all expectation to respond relevantly to what has been said & make sense?

Me: It would be great to eradicate violence completely but until we find a way to make everyone in the world nice, this is not realistic. Her: That's callous and a sign of privilege. #Seriously

Why aren't people embarrassed to be so completely unreasonable? It's not like other people don't point it out to them. They must know.

I'll tell you why (you knew I would.) Because reason is no longer an expectation within certain ways of thinking. It's not even remotely a requirement. It might even be sexist, racist & imperialist.

We need to make this embarrassing at the same time as making it as unembarrassing as possible to acknowledge an error of reasoning. In fact, the latter should be held in the highest esteem because everyone does it. To err is human. To acknowledge it is to be the best of humans.

What you said made perfect sense. Ignore anyone who uses silencing words as battering rams: bigot, racist, privilege, [fill in the blank]-phobic, racist, jealous, Nazi... Those words are meant to get you to back down. DON’T.pic.twitter.com/xTpRt3SrwO
