I don't know why you think there isn't outrage when men murder women? This is punished so much more harshly than when men murder men (much more likely) or when women murder anyone.https://twitter.com/arwen_king/status/960586890909966336 …

More correctly "ALL men are not violent criminals", however most murders where the victim is female are committed by males and the same is not true for male victims. If this were true for any other group in society there wld be outrage. Why not for females?

Is that really true? I accept that society in general is more accepting of sending men off to be maimed and murdered in wars and I think brain damage suffered by men playing contact sports is horrific, but does our legal system really have a gender bias in punishment for murder?

Well there are studies which show that there is gender bias towards women and discrimination against males in the justice system, i.e. female criminals receive less jailtime & more lenient sentencing. Albeit what I'm linking doesn't focus on murder per se.https://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/11/men-women-prison-sentence-length-gender-gap_n_1874742.html …

Sentencing decisions must be based on more than sex tho for example risk of reoffending perhaps?

Yep. State studies do take that into account (measured via criminal history) along with conviction severity. Having factored that in, "studies of gender disparity that take this approach have usually found that women receive shorter sentences, conditional on observables".

There was a particularly bad assault outside a pub that made the news in Australia. A man beat another man. A high profile feminist insisted on twitter that had the victim been a women it would not have made the news nor illicited public concern. Utterly blinded by idealogy.

Rating for 48 Hours/Dateline/etc ought to make that abundantly clear. People care much more when victims are female. Esp. young females.

I agree. Of all the things causing domestic violence, social apathy is not one of them. The issue isn't sufficient outrage. We just haven't figured out how to deal with the problem yet.
