Scary bloke on the train today. Huge, expressionless, starey. He didn't say a word or make any threatening gestures but all 5 other people in the carriage were intensely uncomfortable & on-edge until he got off. Bizarre how much effect doing eye-contact wrong can have.

Perhaps autistic or just unaware.

I was blissfully unaware my extreme focus when I'm speaking to someone in a serious discussion scared the living hell out of people for the longest time.

Just, i grew up where holding eye contact is the norm during debates, so when i moved away to somewhere that isn't norm, everyone is like "Oh holy fuck this is intense"
-
Quite. The fact is we're all weird to someone.
