I'm well aware of the bonkers nonsense being generated in the US on this point. It doesn't magically become okay when hung on another group by persons other than Donald Trump or the GOP.
I'm suggesting people with low social skills don't need to be excused. Other people can just deal with it. There are way more important things to spend time learning. You only really need learn them if you want to spend a lot of time being social & care about doing it well.

Or if they're lads and want a shag :)

Yes, there is that. I don't object to them being told to do better if they want to achieve a specific social outcome. It's the idea that there is a moral imperative to keep up with the ever changing social rules or be deemed abusive of women that bothers me.

On that we are ad idem.

I have noticed that we have a habit of coming at things from different angles but finding ourselves in the same place. This makes me optimistic.

I have shit social skills but the only consequence of this is that people don't ask me to lead social stuff very much which is a very desirable outcome. They still want me to talk and write about things that actually matter.
-
There's such a huge difference between 'having poor social skills' and 'being an abusive arsehole' but I think this is getting blurred. I've always felt people expected better social skills from me because I am a woman but have also never bothered too much about living up to them
-
To be fair, women still get plenty of shags even with poor social skills, so there's that :)
