It's as hard to argue against 'Some women would destroy men with no due process just because they can so write off the lot of them' as it is to argue against 'some men are violent so write off the lot of them.' The poisoned candy analogy is shit coz it works for every group. https://twitter.com/jay_mc_gee/status/960245477718577152 …

The truth is that... once you tell someone there's no consequences for their horrible behavior... there's nothing but the 'honor system' to stop that little whisper in the back of your head telling you "Fuck that jackass who made me mad, let's make him pay. Blood for blood!"

It doesn't really matter what group they're from... it's the lack of accountability which enables this behavior. A group declares some other group their enemy, and then that status... 'ENEMY'... means any harm you do to them is excused, consequence free.

Totally agree! But, putting the self-flagellation aside, I am genuinely wondering what these vocal minorities might need to simmer down and reconcile. Or is it the case that these groups are just a fact of life that will dominate discourse from time to time?

There will always be people (of either sex) who've been traumatised badly and lash out. They won't necessarily stay that way and they can heal, but others fill their ranks as they do. There's not much to do but be patient and explain mistakes they're making calmly.

Aggressively attacking them, can make it worse. The internet can be harmful as both sides can spark off each other and intrench negative assumptions rather than change them. :(
