Yes, they should if its gender-specific modesty code that isnt a social expectation of women. I do leave people be but I dont think extreme social conservative becomes OK just because someone chooses it. Can still critique it.

This is a strange idea. We criticise socially conservative expectations of women and their bodies all the time. We dont say "Oh you chose to put moral value judgements on the way women dress. Thats fine then." We try to persuade them to stop doing that.

Helen, number one you’re putting words in the mouths of hijab wearers. How do you know it’s also about adhering to moral values? I happen to know a lot of Muslims and I know for a fact that many wear a hijab primarily to let people know they are Muslim. Isn’t that ok?

Also. What about when a non religious woman chooses to wear something to adhere to some moral standard of her own? Long dresses, no cleavage, etc. Is that wrong of them?

Yes, we can also critique that. If she says she feels its morally good for women to dress modestly, of course we can and do challenge that. Its not uncommon. Not very many religious people here. Lots of sexist social conservatives.

Live and let live. Lots of Muslims out there who believe in liberty. Don’t paint with such a broad brush. They aren’t Linda Sarsours thankfully

I know there are and I see what happens to them when they try to critique modesty norms! I feel they need supporting, not throwing under the bus. See the two I quoted in that piece.

Can we at least agree to abolish government-run healthcare?

Regardless, you’re the type of person i want voting. Principled, thoughtful. Not many on the left or right who are anymore.

Well, thank you very much. How nice to reach this place from a point of disagreement.
