I am genuinely scared by how fast we seem to be forgetting that judging people by race, gender, sexuality rather than who they are and what they think and do is a bad thing.

I am getting very low on patience. I don't know if people really have suddenly got much worse at ethical reasoning or if I'm just noticing it more.

It's part and parcel of Identity Politics - when people's race, gender or sexuality apparently changes the value of their speech. Every time we see or hear 'as a woman/ POC/ LGBTQ...' exactly the same thing is happening.

Not sure if you saw this recent example. An intelligent Director of mainstream leftish think tank dismissing a polite disagreement at 'whitesplaining'.https://twitter.com/faizashaheen/status/957331726103207937 …

If u can stand the patronising tone, can u work out what he's arguing? The surge in racist attacks post Brexit weren't real, just people's feelings? That racism is subjective? We shouldn't take racist incidents seriously because the racist didn't report it too?🤯 #whitesplaining pic.twitter.com/AGRoIJgitO

She doesn’t say “whitesplaining” here. Did I miss it?

There is a white straight male exception to this rule passed by some comittee in the mid-90's.

Yes, people seem to be incapable of identifying themselves as human prior to any other predicate. Is the fact that ‘human’ has become an empty concept to so many due, in part, to PoMo thinking or is it all Sartre’s fault?

Witness the #NotAllMen trope. Used to shout people down as foolish or sexist or a rape apologist for merely pointing out the banal fact that not all men are violent. It's barely an exaggeration to say it's become a taboo to point out certain facts.

It has gotten new respect because coming from the ideological side you wouldn't have expected it to come from I guess. Liberalism used to champion individuality but that has been outflanked by an approach whose design better fits power grab urge.
