As a practice, its ideal never made it out of literary works. But it was aimed at devotion to God and women and honor. I don't understand why women today say they don't even *want* to be honored, given the choice. That's how chivalry was killed.

You lost me at “Devotion to God.” The god of which holy book? The one that says menstruating and giving birth are sins? To give birth to a girl is a graver sin? The god that commanded Israelites to take virgin girls as sex slaves after they slaughtered their families? This god?pic.twitter.com/q5OUhE2jLL

I love chivalry, but any man doing it out of “devotion the God” can go f*ck himself.

I think most men with a devotion to God wouldn't actually do that
I'm glad you love chivalry though -
If they wouldn’t do that, they are projecting their own values onto a god. They’ve created a god in their own image.

Shit dude, can't we just hold doors and put our jackets over puddles without raping and pillaging? We'll even throw in some poetry.

Hmmm... Wasn't chivalry part of the "honour" culture, which was left behind for "dignity" culture?

Mostly, we were sick of opening doors and pulling out chairs.
