Because they seem to imply that women cannot evaluate and choose whether or not to comply with common social norms - eg beauty norms, motherhood tropes, gender roles. This does not mean I think these things don't exist or that I have nothing at all to say about them.

Whatever terminology they use to identify themselves, there are many, many people who support gender equality *and* individual choice & responsibility. Sometimes I think there’s more confusion over semantics than ideas.

Definitely. It doesn’t help that so many of these terms have become fraught, & might refer, variously, to broad principles, specific political movements, etc.

I find that people often glom onto terms without really thinking them through, or having a coherent sense of what they mean by them. A measure of intellectual dishonesty tends to be rather widespread, as well: what they say & what they think may not coincide.
