I do not become a postmodernist because I think that gender identity is complicated and involves more than gonads and chromosomes. It also relates to brains, hormones and genetics. I think this because this is what the emerging science shows.
We're still talking about this tho. Biological sex indicators are to be found in genitals, chromosomes, hormones and brains.

OK - I wasn't sure, since part of the debate is around the very definition of gender, with some people saying it's basically synonymous with self-identification, which makes gender meaningless.

The question is why some people identify as a different sex to their gonads. The answer is found in other parts of their biology (tho pretentious ideologues also exist). I'll check it out. Though the biological grounding here won't make me change my mind as to whether this actually changes definitions of gender.
