Also, people who voluntarily wear curtain material on their heads should be mocked.

I don't care much about material on heads. Not happy with gender-specific modesty codes tho.

Islamic ‘Modesty culture’ dressed up as feminism is suspiciously similar to early Christians claiming to improve the status of women. Um, pagan Marcus may have leched but you had your own property & bank a/c so...
-
Yes. Garda Karmi is excellent on this, isn't she? Points out that it's unlikely baby girls were routinely buried alive if there were so many women, polygamy had to be mandated. Also that Khadija was a successful businesswoman before Islam but this option closed down afterwards.
-
The alliance between various strains of feminism and various strains of puritanism/prohibition is fraught with danger. It really is.

Someone thinks she needs a safe space. Meanwhile, ex Muslims get legitimately persecuted for their heresy. Hypocritical and oblivious

I don’t think she gets the whole “debate ideas” thing. She’s going to be very disappointed.

“You call yourself an ex-Muslim. No one even cares.” Followed by the very next sentence, “what angers me even more...”

What a piece of juvenile, arrogant non-sensical drivel. Some of the bravest people around now are “Ex-Muslims”.

I can understand her perspective. I think she is wrong, but I can also see how the way we ex-religionists mock things can be very hurtful to people. I think there is far too much mockery of ppl rather than ideas. But ideas - those MUST be able to be criticized and mocked.
-
We each have the right to our own beliefs & ideas, but not to be protected from other people's.
-
But devout followers of any religion (I was an evangelical/fundamentalist Christian for decades) identify so closely with their beliefs that an attack on them feels intensely personal. AND when you believe your God is a real being that you know, you feel compelled to defend.
-
It's really hard to learn to understand this phenomena. It makes no sense from the outside.

This is now par for the course to try and shut ex-Muslims up. They don't have a leg to stand on in defence of their faith so they now try anything they can to try and stop us from talking
