Interesting question. I was saying that I have not reported the times I have been flashed at or groped but dealt with it myself. Should I have? Should we all report minor assaults? https://twitter.com/OlGingerBastard/status/956500407752241152 …

Perhaps the man who flashed at me went on to rape someone? Perhaps the man who pushed another man outside the pub went on to fracture someone's skull? How do we decide when we should deal with things ourselves and when we should involve authorities?

I don't know the answer to that but I am pretty sure that if we think men are OK to handle minor assault themselves, we should not be insisting that women can't make the same decision.

Hmm I'm not sure what type of minor assaults do you mean here.

A push, a shove, a grope, a light slap even. Things that are unwelcome, unpleasant and quite possibly intimidating but don't cause injury and which you can get away from. Would you report a man who pushed you? A woman who groped you? A man who groped you? A woman who slapped you?

Well the complication is that I believe female groper or flasher would be less likely to be a repeat offender who does this sort of thing habitually and less likely to commit worse actions.

Well women sexually assaulting men in a minor or major way is so much rarer than the vice versa, and especially in Pakistan.

I expect so, yes. Here it's usually drunk women who think it's funny or that men will like it. Often men do like it but this should not be assumed. I expect this is very different to Pakistan.

Btw agree with this: 'we should not be insisting that women can't make the same decision', just personally I'd be more concerned about a drunk guy groping a woman than the other way round.
