I've decided we can eat more healthily and save money if I do more cooking from scratch and also invent several new recipes. You'd think this would incline my family to praise and encouragement rather than blind panic but as ever, my efforts on behalf of us all go unappreciated

Indian food is often universally acceptable. You might appreciate this channa dhal recipe I posted. The tadka sauce can be used to simmer a number of non-vegetarian dishes as well.https://twitter.com/kaimatai/status/954582616883146752 …

Cooking Channa dhal tonight. Ingredients include tin of tomatoes, 1 cup of dried channa dhal, 2 onions, ginger & hot chilli peppers, garlic and spices (cumin, coriander and fenugreek seeds, plus turmeric). The seeds will be ground before cooking. Not shown is the salt. pic.twitter.com/Jkl5gBB3pB

Lots of recipes to share, if you’re in need of ideas. I really enjoy frugal and healthy cooking.

Think of eating home made scratch meals as the equivalent of legitimate scholarship, and processed food as pomo. You'll never leave the kitchen :)

Ps. I have no problem doing dishes. I'm fast, efficient, and a stickler for properly cleaning and rinsing. Soap residue? Not on my watch!

Buy a slow cooker. Wake up, throw it all in, get on with life and shazam it’s ready by dinner time.

It’s also the tastier option and uses less food packaging. Good move.

Sadly my children have decided that they would each like their own individual meals cooked every time as they hate anything the others might like.

It's not quite as bad as that here, but I have to make sure we have a non-dairy, non-gluten, non-peanut, non-soy, non-sesame, non-shellfish options.
