People really don't realize the role our biology plays on behaviors and that's why they say such things. Sure, it's a small role. But how often does the smaller roll make the bigger picture that much more clear?

It’s reductive only if you fail to acknowledge outliers. But genetics will explain how the bulk of humanity operates.

Definitely. I study sociology and social psych because I'm interested in them, + frankly they come a lot easier to me than evo psch + the natural sciences, but a wider picture is good. I suspect some ppl tend to dismiss ideas from disciplines they're less adept at/interested in.

Mostly agreed. It’s 3:15am in Canada and I’m watching Federer play tennis. More later.

I agree, but in my experience ppl claiming evbio is “reductive” do so because they don’t understand evbio and/or can’t comprehend multiple causes of a phenomenon. I’m just glad I’m out of academia for good.

I really find it funny how people (rightfully) argue that sexual preferences are genetics and have nothing to do with culture, but whenever other preferences emerge they argue that the "bad" culture is the cause...

There's also gene-culture coevolution to consider.
