Well, as you previously pointed out, we can't expect the nuances of an essay from a tweet so I'm afraid I can't go into the ins and outs of postmodernism here.

Surely you can give me a brief summary?

I could give you a brief summary then you could reply then I could reply and on and on... if knowledge of how broad/narrow the concept is the issue here, I'm sure you'll be able to find that out without my brief summary. My concern is, as I previously mentioned your 1/

unfaithful caricature of such broad concepts. I hear your justification (entertainment) but I see negative impact. 2/

But you still haven't told me how my portrayal was "unfaithful" in any meaningful sense of the term. That is what I'd like to know.

Okay, this is the kind of conversation I would have normally ignored as underlying motivations usually to catch the other/play 'gatcha' game or even disrespectful scorn but since you insist, I'll assume that your intentions are positive & you genuinely want to know what I think.

Your caricature: "Postmodernists deny race & gender but hate white men" Here's why I think ur caricature is unfaithful. Postmodernism is too broad to define into a single thing (never mind as something that exclusively w race & gender (not even gonna go into hate of white men))

Postmodernism is not a framework exclusively of/about gender and race but of epistemology, ontology, ethics and metaphysics in general. In philosophy anyway. Don't forget about postmodern architecture, arts, etc.

Ah, yes. How is this relevant? It's just more apologism. Like when people point out that Christianity inspires homophobia and someone says 'But look at this nice quote about brotherly love and all this beautiful architecture and music.'

I think 1 reason why the debate on postmodernism is so difficult is that people have different definitions about what postmodernism is. It seems this is the basis of my disagreement with Abeba. We probably don't actually disagree. We're just talking about different postmodernisms
