I appreciate your effort here to temper atheist indignation but it seems to me it has been institutionalised faith that’s been callng the shots regarding the identity of the unbeliever. It is the responsibility of the faithful to defend their doctrine & not the other way around.
:-o I'm just pointing out that you're arguing against things no-one is saying. There is nothing academic or intellectual about comparing a combative approach to a psychological/ignoring one for effectiveness.

I associate the publishing realm in general w/ academia but perhaps this is inaccurate. The description of Silverman’s thesis sounded like an apologetic approach to the religious that I’ve heard before. I simply took issue w/ that approach. I hear it every time I re-read it.
