Yes. But it's also not the only way to get to truth, either. For instance, the legal system is also, at its core, a truth-finding institution, but the scientific method has no application there at all

Well, it does. It requires evidence to support a hypothesis beyond reasonable doubt.

1) No experimentation (so very definitely not the scientific method) 2) "Beyond a reasonable doubt" is a criminal standard only; civil matters only require 50% plus an iota. If all you're saying is "truth claims require evidence," sure, I agree wholeheartedly ...
