You can have all the facts on your side, and still lose the argument, if your opponents are more emotionally persuasive. To persuade most people, one must find a way to relate the fact in a compelling way. Damore had too much faith in people’s rationality & reasonableness.

Tone is more important than facts & rational arguments to two groups: • people who think their hurt feelings (or “lived experiences”) are equivalent to ethical arguments; • people who don’t have actual defensible ethical arguments. And I would guess the groups overlap a bit.
