Academia: Don't like Trumpian lies & a "post truth" world? The right's hostility to academia? @HPluckrose , writing from the left, points out that YOU created this problem. Academia created alternative facts, before alternative facts were a thing.http://ow.ly/ApaM30hALRS

Trenchant q. Trump's "alternative facts" appeal precisely because, in part, the right has bought into the academic PoMo/SoCo left's intellectual left's elevation of identity above facts and universal human rights. Its their "reality" -- who are you to say otherwise?
-
Pomo is stupid. Trump is stupid. That doesn’t mean either one invented stupid.

He has policies and a demeanor that people in the Midwest prefer. Or at least they preferred it to Hillary Clinton. Academics need to accept that they have little influence either way on elections.
-
Not sure about that. He ran on few policies, more "I will clean house, break the system, fight for you, drain swamps, get things done." & not just midwest. South and most nonbigcity America. Won more minorities than prior Repubs.
-
Academics have little direct influence. But their intellectual currents affect the broader culture. Identity politics started with the left, but the right has nailed using it to gain political power.
-
I think it's our default setting but universal liberalism made it unacceptable to evaluate ppl by race, gender, sexuality etc, openly at least. Then Pomo made it ok again.
