Right, its interesting. I would agree there is wisdom in traditional ways of knowing. I just would not put them up on a pedestal, nor reject modernity and The Enlightenment in the process...

That would be a misreading of either, I believe. They both believe in objective reality, but understand that knowledge is diffuse, and that there are many unknowns.

A rationalist attitude that discards tradition because it can't be fully proven to be right will discard all sorts of useful knowledge, as will an approach that ignores the distributed nature of practical knowledge, as in central planning of economies.
