Most importantly, from the perspective of those who believe in an afterlife, is there any evidence of a soul which can survive the death of the brain and go on to live in a different form?

Descartes seemed to think so. But I'd say that's one of those issues that rests on revelation

Don't have time to fully flesh it out, but the basic structure of the argument is: Logical evidence for at least a deistic "First Cause"; Logical evidence of mass revelation given the existence of a deistic First Cause; If those two are true, the truth of the text follows

I was just about to threaten your life if you considered delving into Aristotelian Thomism and then thought, no, something more rabbinical probably.pic.twitter.com/UoIWUQCw1N

I don't know. I searched 'evidence' and a big cluster came up.

Seems like you read 2. 3 is the core argument

I used to argue about this endlessly. Usually with Christians. I have lost all will to do so. Atheisting is very 2014.

And many Christians are the worst about it. Judaism at least encourages analytical thought over rote dogmatic gobbledygook.

Christians like to argue with me. Jews usually don't but I sense them rolling their eyes.

Nobody ever tries to argue with me anymore and it bums me out because religion and politics aren my favorite things to discuss. That is, assuming whoever discussing it w/doesn’t just argue in circles and call me a heathen. So it goes. 🤷🏼‍♂️

All to the point of, I’m comfortable with my atheism, such that it is, that I don’t consider myself anti-theist a la Dawkins or Hitch if he were still with us (I wish). I respect others’ religiosity (w/exceptions) if it helps them be good people & good stewards of our world.
