Sorry, school. You will not persuade me that I should be concerned that my daughter is not meeting her targets for music & it is the one subject she is likely to fail. This does not matter in the slightest as we discovered she is one of the few truly tone deaf ppl very early on.

I am secretly amused to read that she has a poor attitude towards philosophy. She doesn't. She's very interested in ethics, reason & how people think. I now really want to know what it is they've been trying to teach her that she is not receptive to.

What is particularly interesting is that whilst she is said to have a poor attitude towards philosophy, she is also doing well at it. Clearly, she gets it. She just doesn't like it. I suspect that if they had taught me philosophy at school, my report would say much the same thing

Schools need to tick all boxes but children are people and will not hit the mark at everything. As a parent, I am delighted mine is doing so well in STEM subjects & adequately in English. If she doesn't like music & philosophy & French, so be it.

Schools have forgotten that kids need to be kids. Surprised they have enough time for friends and the like these days.
