I find this idea that I have a platform because of my privileged identity as a cis white woman and that I abuse it by sharing my own ideas from it very odd indeed.

I'm wondering how they think this works. Do they think Malhar messaged me and said 'Hey, I noticed you're white and cisgendered. Have you ever written anything? I've got a platform you can put it on.' And then people checked my race & gender identity before reading it?

I think we should all check our privilege. I often marvel at how fortunate I am to have been born in late 20th century England and always have had a home, enough food, an education, access to healthcare. Few people throughout history have been as fortunate as me.

I am well aware that I am literate & have a computer and wifi because of the time, place & class in which I find myself. I am not convinced that the modest number of people who follow me & read my stuff do so because I'm white & cisgendered. Or that more would if I were male.

I have noticed that lots of people seem to be getting offended on behalf of other people. It's odd to me to insist on what someone you don't know is thinking based on their race or gender.
